Birds Flying In Sync

Birds Flying In Sync

Birds Flying In Sync, I love watching birds in flight, especially in a group or a pair. Amazing how the timeing of their wing beats can be so in sync for just a moment in time as you watch them. To see them fly in formation is breathtaking to me as well.

There are two well-supported and complementary explanations for why birds fly in formation. One is to conserve energy by taking advantage of the upwash vortex fields created by the wings of the birds in front. The other is to facilitate orientation and communication among the birds.

      1. Yes – on the skids. I love watching the geese and saw a huge formation earlier this week. They were undecided where to go and played the follow the leader circling overhead a few times, then all plopped down … leader must have been new to being “in charge”.

    1. That would be so fun, to just sit there and watch all of them fly by as if in a contest who had the best formation. Sign me up as a judge. 😊

    1. I love photographing birds in flight, especially the white pelicans. Their wing spans are just something. When I lived in Iowa I had a spot where the water would be smooth like ice most of the time and I would pull up a chair and just watch the birds, with a camera of course.

  1. True. In order to remain above deception we must be as informed as possible, but we must also stay in the Word of God, the Good News, in order to remain above the bad news. The bad news can bring us down quickly but the Good News lifts us up more quickly. This is all part of spiritual battle. The Good News gives us hope, strength, answers, solutions, and spiritual victory over evil forces. The apostle Paul wrote, “The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” In other words, there will always be more grace than sin, which means we can never actually fall short of His grace if we make the proper application. His Light shines on the darkness. Thanks again for your support, Sandra. I appreciate y’all.

    1. Yes, I see that so much in every day life right around us. I don’t watch the news much, which seems to be all bad news. I see how it affects my husband when he has been watching to much of it. I bring it to his attention and that is when he realizes it himself. He will put it away and start reading the word again and his entire persona changes. He smiles and laughs and it shines a light on everyone around him. What a difference it makes and when I see that with my loved ones I recognize it more with strangers out and about. They don’t look happy, that frown between their eyes becomes a deep line of sorrow. Our Father will remove these burdens if we just listen to Him instead. 🙂

  2. Thanks Sandra. Great shots. More lessons from nature. We could learn from their example. (I replied to your comment on my latest post.) Blessings to you

    1. Thank you RJ, yes we were driving yesterday and I was talking to my husband about your post. We had a wonderful converstation about all that you had mentioned. How we all fall short of His grace. Even my husband said he still sees the bad side to things instead of all the good. But he is working on it. We are surrounded by so much evil, it is easy to get caught up in it.

    1. Thank you very much, I appreciate that. Yes, there is just something about getting a photo of them flying or landing. They are amazing to watch, so graceful at times. 🙂

  3. It is a beautiful sight to see birds flying in formation. Lovely captures Sandra ! I love how some bird pairs fly with male covering the female, as if he is protecting her.
