Baby bear has come back twice without mom. Doing a little exploring on his own.
I have a feeling mom isn’t far behind him though. More about that on Monday where I had a little to close encounter with her.

Yikes for the close encounter and I think I have it bad worrying about ticks! I meant to ask the other day why the bear’s fur is not all black – it does not appear is it “wear marks” of any kind. It is cute if it would stay this size forever!
Okay, I was wondering … thanks for the explanation Sandra. At first I thought it had rubbed against a tree or something and it was bare (punny), but I could see it was actually fur.
Close encounter. We’ve had a couple of those, but thankfully the food sources nearby were a much more powerful draw than us tourists.

From a friend still on the Appalachian Trail, I think near Gatlinburg….
Bear in shelter last night
Took a hikers backpack
Came back an hour later
Used bear spray and horn
Definitely scary
I am terminating my hike today
