Anything With Wings

Anything With Wings

Anything With Wings is allowed at the airport. I think this bird was watching the big planes with me here at this small airport. Maybe dreaming of flying high and fast like they do or thinking they need to get off his airport runway. 🙂

I don’t know what kind of plane this one is below. But they put on a great show for me on this day. They landed and took off so many times and the pilot waved at me here as I took his photo. Video below of this airport or click this link; Dauphin Island Airport

Plus a coast guard helicopter made a quick stop and then took off.

I was able to stand right next to the runway to get these shots as they flew right over me. I was using my 600 mm lens which makes them look very close.

We are travelling north again and spending time with family along the way. I have not had time to read all my favorite bloggers post as of late. But I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful spring weather so far and thank you again for all your wonderful comments. I appreciate it very much.

Have a great weekend.

  1. I know EXACTLY where that is ha! It was dead the day my brother and I were there. We probably spent 2+ hours there trying to get a photograph of a seaside sparrow. Did see two really nice clapper rails hanging out at the corner of the fencing on the left side and two Ospreys were using the next box you can see from there.

    1. You always mention birds I have never heard of, :), you are a true birder for sure. I love going out to the airport. I stopped by there one day and 2 black hawk helicopters landed, they just came in from Alaska to do training there. I have lots of photos of those birds. 🙂

  2. I do think this bird has high hopes to fly like a plane. Your lens sure captured these other “winged things” up close.

  3. Your blog is one of the latest I have discovered and have ever since made it a point to visit.
Your photography in itself is very poetic along with your accompanying stories and captions that are often lyrical and philosophical like the silhouette revealing what light hides. Overall, very enjoyable as I learn and realize so many things like those rails moving when big trains pass. Thank you in bringing us too into your light adventures, Ms. Sandra!

    1. You are very welcome and I appreciate your kind words. I am taking a couple weeks off from posting as I am visiting family. I thank you for your visit today. I will be back in a couple weeks. Have a wonderful day.

  4. Wonderful plane photos. The bird on the sign and composite photos are perfect.

  5. I think it’s the other way around; the planes are envious of the birds.

  6. I agree with Katherine, “great photography.”

Were those helicopters close as they seem in the photo?

    1. Thank you Liz, yes I was standing pretty close to them. It is a small airport and they have a fence where you can stand right by the runway. 🙂
