Javelina, Javelina also known as collared peccary, are medium-sized animals that look similar to a wild boar. They have mainly short coarse salt and pepper colored hair, short legs, and a pig-like nose.

  1. Dental elevators are an important part of veterinary dental procedures because of their applications. These are one of the reliable tools in veterinary surgical instruments. The main functions include ligating periodontal fibers. The elevators help to dislocate the tooth from its socket.

  2. I love the little goats – very sweet. The longhorn cattle I’ve seen in pictures and maybe when I used to watch the TV show “Dallas” back in the day. They look like they may tip over with those big horns and I would not want to make one angry.

      1. I wonder if the horns just keep growing and growing or if the people who own them have to trim them somehow? It seems like thy would be top heavy like sometimes when you see elk or deer with a huge rack of antlers.

        1. I have seen pictures with some really long horns. I don’t know how they can hold there heads up. 😊

          1. I know – I was just curious how much they weighed and Googled and could not find an answer but they are hollow. Well that would lighten the load on the head considerably!

    1. I know right, we were driving towards ElPaso TX, and I look out my window and I first see the long horn cow, so I said we need to go back. My niece wanted a photo of one. We found our way back and it was mercantile store. Everything you need for farm animals and more they sold there. From food for every kind of animal to horse and cattle stuff, plus all these different animals. It was like a zoo and a store all in one. My kind of place..😊

    1. Do they dig up yards like the wild boars, someone mentioned they are more aggressive than one thinks. These were pretty quiet. They moved through the park and then left.

      1. ,They will dig things up and knock over the trashcan and cause havoc. And they are sometimes pretty aggressive.

      1. On I-35, just a bit north of Austin, there is a Westinghouse plant (I guess it is still there). I always saw a couple of longhorns just hanging out on the grounds. I always found that odd.

  3. CUTE! Especially the Sartore-esque first shot. They need you to start photographing for the Photo Ark. We always look forward to seeing the Javelinas our our trips to Texas – guaranteed to see them at Bensen-Rio Grande Valley SP as well as most of the other wildlife preserves/NWR etc. Was chatting up the ranger that was working the first feeder station at Bensen in January and was surprised to learn how aggressive those Javalinas can be – had no idea those docile looking creatures have such a mean streak.

    1. I love making the black back ground photos. Really let’s you focus on the detail and colors. I did not know they were aggressive either, the javalinas. These were at big bend and the flooded the park to keep everything green, and then they would come through grazing right by all the tents..a heard of cattle came through the park one morning..

  4. The little goat is too cute. On the other hand, cows have huge horns, it must be cumbersome! The one who ruminates is too funny. (4th pic).
