A Cheerful Tiny Bird

A Cheerful Tiny Bird

A Cheerful Tiny Bird called the Chickadee, Now I have taken 100’s of photos of this bird and many others. I never get tired of photographing the same species, but I do try to change the backgrounds and make each photograph a little different. The bird is the subject of the photo, but the challenge comes by finding new locations and different ways to photograph each bird.

Which takes a lot of patience to study and watch each species and try to figure out how they live so that I can showcase how they eat, nest and fly. Of course flying is the difficult one to capture, especially with this fast little bird.

  1. They are so sweet Sandra and so tiny compared to the other songbirds. They do fly very fast and I often come home with shots of the stump or log with nothing on it – oops! It is happening a lot in the dead of Winter when the battery must be a little slower.

    1. I was surprised to see this pair Dave, someone had told me about this spot so I went to see and came across this pair. I saw my first white weasel also, so interesting, I was not sure what it was at first. My neighbor told me. He said they are good at catching mice.

  2. “A cheerful tiny bird” is a wonderful description of the Chickadee. The chickadee is my eldest daughter’s favorite bird. She “dee dee dee’s” to them and they answer back. She made them the subject of the first poem she ever wrote back in elementary school. She’s kept the poem hanging in her room. It goes- “Chicka dee dee dee/ Look at me me me/ I’m as happy happy happy/ As can be be be/ Chick a dee dee dee.”

    1. Thank you Francine, it is a wonderful way to enjoy a nice day watching the birds for me, A wonderful day to you also ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. A very excellent capture of this little Chickadee Sandra, one of the best photos I have ever seen of this bird. You have used light so well and made this a non front light frame, with the light highlighting its face. It is clever how you caught the back lit area to coincide with the facial light. Beautiful and well constructed.

    1. Thank you so much, I appreciate that. I love photographing in the morning when the light is so much softer. Have a wonderful day.

  4. I know that feeling…. a load of pictures and only one or two of which you are satisfied. The first one is reale great and that is the reason for doing so.
