150 Birds Photographed

150 Birds Photographed, what a fun year for me photographing birds. So many I have never even heard of as well. That is what I like most about birding, like this bird below, the Avocet, I get home and have to get my bird book out right away to see what the name is.

Video of a Beautiful Peacock below or click on this link here; The Peacock, I came across this bird at a mercantile store strutting his stuff. Beautiful birds.

We were camping by a lake and I was just sitting there enjoying the view and this bird below popped up out of the water. It is called Clarks Grebe. Such unusual names for some of these birds.

Plus, I have spotted my first magpie. This bird is hard to photograph, they are fast and don’t sit around to long and always seem to be very far away. They are actually a lot bigger than I thought they would be.

The King Bird, these are great little fly catching birds. You normally find them perched low on something and then they swoop down and catch a bug. I think the soft yellow on this bird is so pretty.

  1. 150 birds- how exciting. I especially like the picture of the King Bird. The Clarks Grebe and magpie made me think that you must keep your camera photo ready at all times to capture these unexpected visits.

    1. Thank you Beth, yes I always have a camera with, to many times I have gone out without one in the past and that is when I see something. So I usually carry it with me, one just never knows 🙂

    1. Thank you Linda, yes the magpies were a lot bigger than I thought they would be and some very pretty blue feathers on their backside you only see when they are flying

  2. Conggrats on a great achievement Sandra. I noticed you had what appeared to be an Avocet in your first pics. We have a similar one with a more redder/browner neck called the Red-necked Avocet.

    1. Thank you, they are such colorful birds, I have never seen one before now and that curved bill is so interesting looking 🙂

  3. You are tinning some wonderful birds on your trip. I always joke that Avocets must have flown into a wall with their bent bills ha!

    1. Yes, those bills are quite something. I photographed my first Loon today, it was pretty far away, but I finally have one of those in the bin 🙂

  4. I know nothing about birds, but I love watching them! Your photos capture the beauty of these awesome creatures, plus I learned the names of a few I didn’t know. Thank you for sharing!

    1. You are so welcome Mike and Kellye, they are so much fun to watch and then learn all the different species and their nature. I love water birds, but Eagles and White Pelicans are my favorite.

  5. 💜 Some “birds” ARE Friendly; especially around food like pigeons
