Sunrise at the River

Sunrise at the River

Sunrise at the River, the weather is so nice here this week. I have been busy getting out of the house early to see what I can find down by the river in the early morning light. So I got there as the sun was coming up and I was watching the birds in front of me.

I turned to look behind me and the sun was casting an orange glow everywhere as it was coming up over the horizon, making for a wonderful silhouette of the trees.

This low light is what cast such a warm golden color across the water. As many of you may know, that is why it is my favorite time of day for photography. This blue herons wings just grazed the water in this shot.

It is still a very low light out here, which is causing some noise in the photo, that gives it a bit of a grainy look. But I still enjoyed the reflection of this tall Blue heron wading in the river.

And the gulls are back also, they have been gone for a while and this morning they were flocking in from the east as the sun was rising.

  1. Sandra, I’m one of your many followers who is glad that you have the stamina and self discipline to get out of bed that early so we can view the great results of your work while we are having a leisurely cup of java in the middle of the morning or afterwards. Thank you.

    1. Thank you so much, that made me smile. I never thought of it that way. I like that thought that you might be enjoying the photos at the morning table like reading a newspaper. 🙂 Thank you for saying that. I am happy to do it. 🙂

  2. happy canadian thanksgiving. I am thankful for much including you and your blog. I enjoy your photos and the sense of peace from your photos and videos. Blessings to you and your hubby. Thanksgiving is special, it’s a month of birthdays and that’s fun but it’s really the thought to me of a family get together to give thanks without the pressures that Christmas seems to encompass.
Love the wings grazing the water – very special photo! – Take care Sandra – David

    1. Hello Dave, and happy Thanksgiving to you. I am glad you told me that. Ours is next month, I hope you have a wonderful time with family and friends. Thank you Dave for your kind and thoughtful words. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend as well.

  3. That moon sure is intense Sandra. It just lights up the sky. And the heron with the golden light – just fantastic. It looked like the seagull got a fish, so maybe more successful than the heron. Have a great weekend yourself.

      1. No, it doesn’t Sandra and I saw a horrid sight last week where a mouse was attacked and left behind. It turned my stomach and we have Turkey Vultures that cruise overhead, so not sure why it didn’t appeal to them – the next day thankfully it was gone. Yes, nothing is wasted in nature.

    1. Thank you very much Maria, I love trying to get shots like that, it takes a lot of patience and really calm water. I got a few like that with the Egrets, I have not had a chance to edit them yet. Have a wonderful evening Maria.

    1. Thank you, that means a lot to me to hear that. I get that feeling also when I look at others photos, I love that about photography. 😊

    1. 🙂 Yes, I love capturing the wing dip. So much fun to see it in the photos. I got a few of the Egrets doing this also. 🙂
