Picnics in September

Picnics in September

Picnics in September, I don’t know about you. But, I love a picnic anytime of year. We have even gone to parks in the winter with snow on the ground. Parked next to a picnic table and have a wonderful lunch after a hike in the snow.

Picnics in September

Time goes by so fast sometimes. Mainly as I get older I guess. I will be turning 59 years old soon. I don’t remember a lot of my younger years. But what I do know now is that these are the best years for me. I have more understanding of life and of death.

There was always a fear of both when I was younger. I think, for me anyway, that wisdom comes with getting older and when I was ready to hear the truth, it really did set me free. Free to live the life that was given to me and not listening to the world and how it told me I should live.

I AM accountable to the Creator of the universe above all others

  1. Bellissimi i tuoi scatti, ma ancor più belle le parole che l’accompagnano.
Quando si arriva ad età più mature è bello godere della vita e di tutti i suoi aspetti, la maturità lo permette.

    1. That is so true, as we get older we tend to not worry about what others think or say, that is for me anyway. So I can enjoy just living. I love that and thank you. Have a wonderful day.

  2. I cannot remember the last picnic I was on – many years ago. I would like to have a picnic in this scenic area and the idea of a picnic in the snow sounds fun too. The waterfalls here are very picturesque Sandra.

    1. Thank you Linda, yes, we always take a light lunch or just some snacks with on our little adventures and if we are somewhere we can just sit outside and enjoy the weather also makes it more enjoyable. I do that even when I am out by myself. I always take a chair with, if I am driving somewhere, like down to the river. I take my chair and camera and find a spot by the water and just watch the birds and take photos. I love doing that.

      1. That sounds very relaxing Sandra – whether you are by yourself or with your husband. It is better to spend as much time outdoors now before the snow and ice and bitter cold keep us indoors.

    1. That would have been perfect with the rest of them, give time to laugh a lot. My favorite thing to do. I will put it in the next one. 🙂

  3. Your post triggered some memories in me, Sandra. I remember specific moments where I was afraid of living and afraid of dying – one of those uneasy youthful paradoxes. Now, with age I have no fear of both. Loving my later years. Lovely post and marvellous images.

    1. Thank you Don, yes, I went through all of that as a young person. To many outside influences making me think I have to live a certain way I guess. I would not like to go back in time, I like where I am at now. Have a wonderful evening Don.

  4. The last picnic I had, Sandra, would have been in 1984! I like eating outdoors, I just don’t even think of picnics! 😊

    1. 🙂 That was awhile ago. We do all the time, it is so refreshing to eat outdoors instead of in the house all the time. Especially in the cooler weather, we enjoy that. 🙂

    1. Yes, that is part of it DC, my husband and I went to a park last winter. Lots of snow, but it was a sunny day. We picked a picnic table that was in the sunshine, wiped the snow off and had some warm chicken and a salad with hot coffee and not a person anywhere. It was so much fun.

      1. Beautiful! In my younger years I did a lot of winter backpacking in the northeast. Clean, snow-blanketed forests are truly something to behold.

  5. “I think, for me anyway, that wisdom comes with getting older and when I was ready to hear the truth, it really did set me free.”
… Sandra, this is IT in a nutshell. You and I both know this truth!

Gorgeous photography! There is just something about water that always calms the soul. Mother is so generous with Her Gifts and we just have to open our hearts and our Inner Eye to see them in order to feel the “magic”, the “glory”, the “power”, the ultimate freedom. Thank you for sharing your picnic with us. God bless you!! xo

    1. I feel that to be true Amy, I think He knows when we are ready to hear more and more of the truth, and then for me, my eyes just kept opening a little more each time and my heart along with it. Until all of a sudden everything that happened in the past finally made sense, I don’t have to ask why anymore. Life is a gift and death is a homecoming. Our body’s are on loan to us just for a short time to enjoy the wonderful things He gives us. I did not grow up in a Christian family at all. A neighbor told my a little bit about it when I was 10 and I have searching for the truth ever since. It is about the journey Amy, you have been there almost the same. 🙂

      1. It is the journey that brings truth to light, Sandra. I like you now understand why my past is what it is for without it I would not be who I am today nor would I be where I am in life as well. To have confidence I am being taken care of no matter what, is life giving! I still have mountains to climb, don’t get me wrong, and I am far from perfect, yet overall, life flows with no fear for I know God has got me in the palm of His hand. And as you well know, that is a place I would not trade for anything. Neither one of us got to this place without effort on our part. It’s the journey and our willingness to seek out truth no matter what. Now to reap the harvest. SMILE! xo

        1. Yes, learning is never over and for some reason I find so much more joy in learning new things about life and myself at this age that I am at now. Where I don’t listen to others opinions about me like you do when you are younger. Only one opinion matters and that does take the burden off ones shoulder. 🙂

    1. Thank you Gerry, fall is definitely the time of year where just sitting in nature allows me that quiet time to just stop and listen. Have a wonderful day Gerry.

  6. I’m not a picnic person. I don’t want ants in my food or anything. 🙂 But your pictures are pretty inviting.

    1. Thank you Jo, we never have problems with ants but mid summer when the flies are out, we make them quick picnics, like only an apple. 🙂

  7. Hi Sandra picnics are perfect for me in September. It is a month the gives me the best of both seasons… the transitioning from Summer to Fall. The best weather is in September.
