Dog Days of Summer

Dog Days of Summer

Dog Days of Summer, or is it the Cat Days of Summer. Remember the game, Where is Waldo. This photo is – Where is the Cat. Can you see her with out looking at the next photo? It is hot out, but my cat still likes to go outside for a little bit with the dogs.

Dog Days of Summer Where is The Cat

So I took her out to the swing and set her on the bench. I walked away for a minute and she was gone. I could not find her at first, until I looked up and saw her lounging right where cats like to be. Higher than everyone else.

I put this photo in just to distract you from looking at the next photo to see where the cat is sitting. Plus a friend doesn’t get to see a pink sky very often. And there have been plenty of them lately in the mornings.

Dog Days of Summer

This is my Cat, her name is Kit Cat. ๐Ÿ™‚ Kit for short. She loves hanging with all of us. When it is hot she takes the high road where there might be a breeze.

So now you have met my little dog, DOG (deohgee) and Kit Cat. You can see I am not good at picking names. Good thing I never had children. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. I think I can hear you saying it with a high voice though. ๐Ÿ™‚ Have a great weekend Mr. Ohh. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. I was actually searching for the dog Sandra… Do no despair regarding names, my cat is called Miaau (Meow) in Afrikaans. But he is very intelligent – only cay in the world which can say his name…
    Kit Cat is beautiful!

    1. I love your cats name also. It made me think if I ever get another dog, I will name it Bark. What a great idea. Thank you Abrie, have a wonderful evening.

  2. Took me just a moment to find her ๐Ÿ˜€
But I have my own trouble maker at home, a one like yours, but with some orange in it, too ^^ I had to sharpen my senses xD

    1. Thank you, I should always know to look up first when trying to find her. They sure love being above everyone else. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you Tom, I know, when I was looking for her I never though to look on top of the swing. I was calling her name and looking in the grass the whole time she was just sitting there looking at me trying to find her. I think she was smiling also. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I didn’t see her right away – Kit Cat did take the high road on top of the canopy instead of under it. ๐Ÿ™‚ A beautiful cat and a beautiful sky Sandra.

    1. Thank you Linda, she does love to be outside, but only for a short time. She does get spooked if there is any loud noises and then she wants to run back inside.

      1. My friend Carol has a cat and takes it out for a stroll around the yard on a leash. She has no fencing as it is a rural area (not that it would stop a cat by having a cyclone fence) but that is what she uses as she is afraid he will get spooked and run away. Kit Kat is happier indoors with her “people”.

        1. Yes, she loves to just be where ever all of us are. I put mine on a leash also. It only takes a second for her to spook and she would be gone. It the first picture you can actually see the leash hanging there. It is green. I would hate to lose her so she is always on a leash outside.

          1. Same with Carol’s cats – she had three and although she took all three out, only one would actually walk with her, the others planted their feet and didn’t go any farther. Now this is funny. Yesterday when I read this post, I remembered I had a post called “Cat Days of Summer” and was going to send it to you. Why did I not send it? Sometimes I don’t know the name of a post, like the corn-eating ducks at Elizabeth Park, but this one I knew the name. So I just looked for it and guess what: 1) I sent it on July 2nd, same day as your post; and 2) one of the cats looks a little like Kit Kat. At least the pictures did not vanish for this post.

            1. Isnt that something, we are thinking the same thoughts by viewing the same animals. That is so cool Linda, the one cat does look like her a bit. Cats lay around like they are exhausted when it is hot. Like the squirrels do. My dogs dont, they are ready to go even in the heat.

            2. Yes, I thought so too Sandra and last night I meant to look for it and somehow forgot. (My angst over the dentist appointment did me in. :)) Anyway, I thought it was funny the posts were both July 2nd. This cat did not have as much black on her face as Kit Kat but “great minds” as the saying goes. I did not know that about cats … do they pant like dogs do to cool themselves off? I used to walk down Emmons Boulevard sometimes and there was a young woman who walked her two English bulldogs and they would be panting and drooling and every so many yards she would stop and have to give them each a bowl of water – she had two shallow bowls and a liter bottle of water she toted along with her every day.

            3. Yep, like minds. ๐Ÿ™‚, cats dont pant as much as dogs, but when it is really hot they open there mouths a bit like you see some birds do when it is hot. She stays in when it is this hot though. I always have water and collapse able bowls with for the dogs also. I only give them filtered water also. City water is not good for people or animals. I checked the city web site. Sounds like they are going to do fireworks here. We can see them from the back yard so i will try and get photos if they do. I like seeing all the colors but i would never drive to one to see them. Even on a normal year. I just dont like crowds of people anymore. Well I never did really.

            4. Yes, birds will hyperventilate and if too hot, or without water, become very stressed. I didn’t know about the City water – probably not good here either. We have sewer main breaks here all the time. In fact we had one over Labor Day weekend a few years ago – water was brown for 2-3 days. The fireworks will be a treat to see without the crowd – I would not go to the Detroit Fireworks when they had them – too big a crowd, it is always hot, people get antsy, boisterous and argumentative – knife attacks and gunshots are the norm.

            5. Kind of takes the fun out of everything doesn’t it when people have to stir up trouble.
We have a Berkey water filter, it sits right on the sink. It works really well.

            6. I’ve never had a water filter before – I know it’s a good idea when they talk about all the stuff in the water these days. I always have a 12-pack of bottled water here at the house in case of a water main break.

            7. They are really nice to have, I don’t like buying the bottled water because of all the plastic. We bought the stainless steel water bottles, easy to clean and reuse. We just fill them from the filter. It is a big canister that has charcoal filters inside of it. It actually saves you money from not having to buy so much bottled water. We have used it for years now.

            8. I never knew anyone who used the filtered water before. I just buy the bottled water a couple of times a year to have here for a water emergency. I know the plastic is bad and my neighbor’s son used to work at BASF Chemicals and they have bottled water available for employees and told them drink all you want but never leave the plastic bottles in your car in the heat as they can make you really sick.

  4. My mom is partial to black and white cats. They definitely radiate personalityโ€”must be the mustachio๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. ๐Ÿ™‚, I didn’t at first either and I was right there. She is on top of the canopy of the swing. Her new favorite place now.

  5. I think Kit Cat and Dog are great names. Plus you’ll never forget which one is which, lol.

  6. Kit Cat’s pose and eyes say that she has a lot of personality. Looks like she’s enjoying the photo-shoot and her new perch. I’m curious, is the Saharan dust cloud reaching your region and impacting the colors of your sunrises/sunsets?

    1. Thank you Beth, she does have a wonderful personality. I have not noticed anything different about the sunrises yet. I heard that it might enhance the sunsets. I am keeping my eyes and ears open though. I will be there with my camera if I can.

  7. Love the cat. With that chocolate (fur) rimmed mouth she looks like me after I’ve pre-cleaned the pot the fudge was cooked in, before I use soap and water.

    1. She loves sitting up there all the time now when we are outside. Birds eye view, ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks Francine, great day to you also.

  8. โ™ก Spotted Kit in the first photo; yaaay Me!!!

    …โ™กโ™กโ™ก…

    1. She is such a sweetie. We found her as a kitten and took her in. She fits right in with all of us, including the dogs. She looks like she has a mustache. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you Don.

    1. Thank you Eliza, I could not find her either when I was standing there looking for her. I should have known to look up first. She loves sitting on the canopy now. ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Yep, I saw Kit when you challenged me to look closer to the picture. She has nice markings. And the pic with the pink sky… Wow! So, so beautiful. I don’t believe I saw a sky like that before.

    1. Thank you Jo, she is a wonderful cat. She was a stray, we found her when she was just a kitten all by her self. She fits right in with the dogs. ๐Ÿ™‚

        1. She is, at night when it is time for bed. She sits in the middle of the stairs blocking the little dog from coming upstairs. The little dog starts winning because she can’t get past the cat. But in the morning the little dog chases the cat back downstairs. Always something with this group.
